About the event
Ever opened a new score and quietly hoped the person next to you knew how it goes? This workshop is for you!
Under the direction of conductor and educator Andrew Raiskums, you’ll build the foundations for turning the dots on the page into sound:
Keys and scales: understanding major and minor keys, and hearing and singing the scales they’re built on
Intervals: recognising the distance between notes on the page, and pitching them accurately when you sing
Reading short melodies: putting it together to sing simple tunes at sight, step by step.
Whether you’re a student building your musicianship, or a chorister who wants to rely less on learning by ear, you’ll leave with skills you can use at your very next rehearsal. All you need is a basic familiarity with scales, keys and reading music.
